Devastating robbery in Bremen: 76-year-old pushed off her bike!

Two frightening robberies of senior citizens occurred in Bremer Neustadt on Monday evening, October 6, 2025. These incidents shed a bright light on the current crime situation in the city and, above all, put the safety of older people at the forefront.

The first incident happened around 6 p.m Buntentorsteinweg, where a 76-year-old woman was attacked by two unknown men while riding her bike. The first perpetrator spoke kindly to the woman and asked for money, but when she refused and discovered a bottle of alcohol in his jacket pocket, his kindness turned to anger. A second man stopped the woman and pushed her, causing her to fall to the ground on her bike. In this vulnerable position, the two men snatched her wallet and then fled in an unknown direction.

The woman suffered minor pain in her arm and shoulder during the attack, but no medical treatment was required. The perpetrators are described as men dressed in dark clothing who apparently come from a drinking and homeless background. The police are now urgently looking for witnesses who noticed something suspicious on Buntentorsteinweg on Monday evening. Information can be given to the permanent criminal service on 0421 / 362 – 3888.

Another victim – a 100-year-old man

On Friday, October 3, 2025, a 100-year-old man was also the victim of a robbery in downtown Bremen. The attack occurred around 7 p.m. when three men attacked both the senior citizen and his 59-year-old son-in-law. One perpetrator held the 100-year-old by the arm and dragged him along the sidewalk, while another fixed his son-in-law and a third distracted passers-by. In this chaotic situation, the perpetrator snatched his gold watch from the senior citizen.

The oldest of the two men was slightly injured in this attack. The police have not yet provided any information about the exact value of the stolen watch, but it is assumed that there were three young perpetrators. These incidents shed light on the increased attacks on seniors in Bremen, which are also documented by medical and social science organizations. A website of police identifies specific forms of violence against older people and sets out the need for attention and protective measures for this particularly vulnerable group of citizens.

The call for vigilance

The frequency of attacks on senior citizens in Bremen is alarming. Experts warn about the dangers that older people can experience in everyday life, whether in the form of robberies or domestic violence. Society is called upon to provide support not only to victims, but also potential victims of violence and attacks and to take them seriously.

Especially in times when the security situation is tense and cases like these are discussed in public, it is important that relatives and neighbors remain vigilant. The ability to pass on tips to the police can make a valuable contribution to improving community safety.
