New residential tower in Kattenturm: daycare center and social center planned!
Something is happening in Bremen-Kattenturm. The Gewoba housing association has big plans for the Kattenturm center with the construction of a new residential tower that will house both apartments and social facilities. However, there has so far been no indication that construction work will begin soon. The conditions at the market square are still waiting for the groundbreaking. Weser courier reports on an impressive planned apartment building that will stand out in the area with its 22 meters and three different heights between two and eight floors. Residents can look forward to 53 apartments on the first floor.
The ground floor of the new house is also promising. It will have space for bins, bicycles and several social hubs, including a bakery with a café. What is particularly interesting is that the South Social Center of the Office for Social Services will move in, where several offices and meeting rooms will be built. In addition, the local office will be housed in the new building, so that citizens will find a central point of contact here.
Education and integration for everyone
A highlight of the project is the planned new daycare center, which will be located on the second and third floors of the building. With four groups, it will not only provide space for the little ones, but also have a kitchen that can prepare meals for other facilities in the area. This is a real benefit for the district, which should not be lacking in offerings for families. Gewoba Magazine emphasizes that the daycare center, with its well-thought-out concept, is an important part of the project.
Another integrative point is the “Arriving in the Quarter” project, which helps refugees to settle in Bremen. The demand for housing is high and the construction project will help to better address social challenges in the region. However, concerns cannot be ruled out: residents speak of possible overheating of the play areas in summer and safety concerns regarding the escape routes, which Gewoba now wants to examine.
Pleasing developments in the district
Future tenants can also look forward to a high-quality wooden building shell that achieves passive house qualities and generates renewable energy for their own consumption. These sustainable aspects not only please environmentally conscious people in Bremen, but also show Gewoba's innovative strength. Further developments in the “Bremen Points” in other urban areas, such as Schwachhausen and Gartenstadt Vahr, are also reported.
With these developments, the Kattenturm center could soon be a center for community and social exchange. If everything goes according to plan, the new building should be finished by the end of 2029. In any case, there is great curiosity about the construction project and we are excited to see how the plans become more concrete.
