Bremen defends title: Best logistics center in Europe 2025!

What a reason to celebrate! The Bremen freight transport center has proven itself to be the best of its kind in the current European ranking. According to Bremen's Senator for Economic Affairs Kristina Vogt, this makes a big difference for the city and the entire region. With an impressive 405 out of 442 possible points, Bremen defends its top position and thus surpasses all other freight transport centers in Europe. “This is excellent news for Bremen,” emphasizes Vogt, emphasizing the relevance of the GVZ for logistics, innovation and sustainability.

The ranking is compiled every five years by the German GVZ Society. In 2025 it will be clear once again: Bremen is not only the oldest freight transport center in Germany, but also the European hub in the logistics industry. With its trimodal connection - by road, rail and water - the GVZ is a prime example of modern logistics.

A pioneer in sustainability and technology

The Bremen freight transport center is also committed to the topic of sustainability. The use of photovoltaics, electric trucks and hydrogen is not just lip service here, but rather lived practice. The innovative strength of the GVZ is particularly clear in the area of automated and autonomous driving. These pioneering technologies not only ensure environmentally friendly logistics, but also offer opportunities for economic development and the creation of new jobs.

Covering a total of 472 hectares in Bremen-Strom, the largest freight transport center in Germany and Europe offers space for around 150 companies and is therefore a real magnet for the economy. With 1.2 million square meters of hall space and the BLG Logistics Group's largest high-rise warehouse in Europe, the GVZ demonstrates impressive dimensions. Around 8,000 people find employment here - an important support for the local economy.

Historical roots and modern challenges

Historically, the GVZ Bremen is an important transshipment point for goods in the Bremen ports. The grain transport facility from 1900 is evidence of the center's long tradition. Nowadays, the GVZ also faces challenges such as the shortage of skilled workers, climate change and international trade conflicts. Despite these challenges, the vision remains clear: to further develop the freight transport center as a beacon in logistics and to keep the Bremen location at the top.

So the weather signs are good for the GVZ Bremen. The latest developments and the pleasing ranking clearly show that something is being done right here. We can only hope that the positive trend continues and that the region can benefit from the central role of the GVZ for a long time to come.
