Season finale of the Bunten League”: inclusion and diversity on the pitch!

On Saturday, September 27th, things will get really exciting in Bremen when the final of the inclusive football league “Bunte Liga powered by Sparkasse Bremen” takes place at Hohweg 50 at TV Bremen-Walle. Around 40 teams from Bremen, Bremerhaven and the surrounding region are in the hunt for the title and will receive support from numerous spectators and supporters. The Bremen Football Association (BFV), in collaboration with TV Bremen-Walle, has prepared everything to guarantee fair and happy cooperation. Bremerfv.de reports that the coaches meet at 11:30 a.m. and the games start at 12:00 p.m. on several fields.

The Bunte League is an inclusive football project that has been bringing people with and without disabilities together since 2022, thereby closing a gap in league operations for footballers with disabilities. This season the league was particularly pleased to welcome 43 teams in the U12, Ü12 and Ü16 age groups, all fighting together for victory. The proportion of active participants and visiting spectators is estimated at around 600, including many players, coaches, supervisors and family members. DOSB.de highlights that the games will take place on a total of six pitches in seven groups.

Community and inclusion

“Sporty competition – colorful togetherness” is the motto of the Colorful League. Every match day focuses on fair play, enjoyment of the game and mutual support. The Bremen Football Association's commitment is designing a platform to give everyone the opportunity to participate, regardless of disability or background. As the association itself explains, it is important that everyone belongs, no matter what their individual requirements are. DFB.de notes that inclusion is firmly anchored in the German Football Association and that various initiatives are supported to improve access for footballers with disabilities.

The TV Bremen-Walle facility will be fully utilized for the day, and the club will also ensure the physical well-being of those present. At the awards ceremony, which will take place at 4:30 p.m., the teams can toast their success and celebrate their shared experience. Christoph Schlobohm, consultant for social responsibility at the BFV, will not only accompany the games on this day, but also thank the helpers, partners and sponsors for their valuable contribution.

A look into the future

The Bunte League is more than just a football tournament; it creates values such as diversity, community and sporting cooperation. This initiative is supported by various supporters, including Sparkasse Bremen and ÖVB Versicherungen. It is gratifying to see how sport acts as a connecting tool that brings people together, despite around 7.8 million severely disabled people in Germany who are often excluded from social life. Looking back at the match days so far, the league seems to be on a promising path and is a living example of successful inclusion.
