Mark Forster brings life back to the Bremen racecourse!

The Bremen racecourse in the Vahr district will be brought back to life from 2026 - and with a very special highlight! Mark Forster, a popular German-speaking pop star, will be the first act to perform there. This open-air concert will take place on Thursday, July 9, 2026. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the event begins at 8 p.m. Ticket prices are said to start at 67 euros, but official sales have not yet started. The anticipation for the event is already great.

Imagine, there have been no horse races on the racecourse since 2013. The site lay fallow for a long time and gave rise to repeated discussions about possible use. Could you imagine a residential development or should the area be used more for leisure areas? Until now, cultural events have been the exception here. T Online knows that these plans are now getting a new impetus: the racecourse will not only be opened for concerts, but will also provide space for an outdoor school and cycle cross races.

Long-term plans for the event space

The KPS Concert Office, which is responsible for organizing the concerts, has worked intensively on the preparations over the last year and a half. Managing director Roman Szematat has already held several discussions with various authorities in order to make the necessary arrangements. So far, two concerts are specifically planned, although the organizers are waiting for further offers from tour managers. So it's exciting to see what the coming months will bring! The concept envisages an open-air stage surrounded by food stands and drink bars, as well as a well-thought-out security concept for several thousand visitors. Buten and inland notes the capacity of the racecourse with around 7,000 visitors - a more intimate atmosphere compared to the Bürgerweide, which offers space for up to 35,000 people.

Another plus point is the good parking situation and the uncomplicated arrival and departure for visitors. The wooden stand from 1907 will also be integrated into the new concept as an eye-catcher, which could evoke nostalgic feelings.

A look at Bremen's open-air season

Bremen will already offer a wealth of open-air events in 2025. From concerts to festivals, the season starts in May and runs through September. Walked out highlights that festivals such as the Breminale and the Überseefestival will attract large numbers of visitors. Popular venues – including Bürgerweide and Osterdeich – offer many opportunities to celebrate outside and enjoy the atmosphere. Recommendations for the open-air events: Bring comfortable clothing, a picnic blanket and perhaps a rain jacket or sun protection, depending on the weather.

The return of the racecourse as an event location could open a new chapter in Bremen's cultural scene. Mark Forster has the honor of starting things off. If that isn't a reason to look forward to summer 2026!
