Faux pas after Eintracht victory: reporter plans Werder captain!
The new 2025 Bundesliga season has started with a lot of spectacle. Last weekend, Eintracht Frankfurt came up trumps in the opening game and swept Werder Bremen 4-1. There were not only sporting highlights, but also a small faux pas by Sky reporter Katharina Kleinfeldt that caused a stir. Südwest24 reports that Kleinfeldt mistakenly mistook Werder captain Marco Friedl for Eintracht goalkeeper Michael Zetterer during an interview.
The misunderstanding arose from an exchange of jerseys between Friedl and Zetterer. When Kleinfeldt unexpectedly asked Friedl a question, he realized she didn't realize he didn't play for Frankfurt. “I’m a Werder Bremen player, in case that’s not clear,” Friedl clarified, while Kleinfeldt promptly apologized. The small mistake was quickly resolved and the interview proceeded without further incident.
Goal-filled encounter
The game itself offered plenty of dramatic moments. Can Uzun scored the first goal of the game in the 21st minute, followed by a goal from newcomer Jean-Matteo Bahoya, who scored his first goal for Werder three minutes later. Yahoo Sports reports, that Bahoya increased again after half-time to 3-0, with Uzun shining as an assist provider.
In another exciting moment, Jonathan Burkardt had an excellent chance on his Bundesliga debut for Eintracht, but his effort hit the crossbar. Shortly before half-time, Marco Friedl also hit the crossbar, but his goal was disallowed due to offside. Werder attacker Justin Njinmah finally scored a consolation goal, but Ansgar Knauff made the final score 4-1 perfect with his goal in the 70th minute.
