Wolfsburg defeated Bremen 4:2 – the first defeat for Werder!
On September 24, 2025, there was an exciting northern duel between VfL Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen as part of the women's Bundesliga. With a clear 4-2 win, Wolfsburg inflicted their first defeat of the season on Bremen and remain unbeaten. Smelling coffee or a cool drink, the fans were definitely ready for an exciting afternoon at the AOK Stadium.
The game started with a lot of momentum. Bremen relied on an offensive formation and tried to take control of the game with high pressing. But after around ten minutes it became clear that Wolfsburg had the better cards in hand and soon took command. What was particularly striking was the quick combination that led to the first goal: Ella Peddemors took advantage of the chance and scored 1-0 in the 30th minute, which was also her first goal of the season.
Wolfsburg takes control
The Wolfsburg women didn't let up and pushed for the second goal. In the 52nd minute there was an unfortunate situation for the Bremen team: an own goal from Chiara D'Angelo after a pass error increased the lead to 2-0. Despite the setbacks, Bremen remained combative and tried to get back into the game. However, the way back was rocky, as the Wolfsburg women continued to make their way. There was excitement in the 80th minute when Larissa Mühlhaus safely converted a penalty for Bremen and made it 1-2.
But the joy didn't last long, because in direct return Svenja Huth restored the old gap with her goal to make it 3-1. Alexandra Popp, who played despite a previous injury, insisted on making it 4-1 in the 89th minute. In stoppage time, Emöke Pápai made the final score 4-2 for Bremen after she was nicely cleared by Mühlhaus.
