Noise pollution causes arguments: Hemelingen between parties and peace!

After the long summer nights in Bremen, the discussion about noise at Mahndorfer See has flared up again. The Hemelingen district, known for its open-air parties, is facing a growing number of complaints from residents this year, especially from Hastedt and Mahndorfer See. These concerns were already discussed in detail in August at a meeting of the Hemelinger Advisory Board Weser courier reported.

In the spring and summer, a total of four approved parties were held at Mahndorfer See and three in Hastedter Park. The CDU parliamentary group had tried to exclude an area for a party in September, but was unsuccessful. Residents reported complaints about noise levels, which in some cases were not considered too high. The question remains whether the recorded noise pollution was actually caused by the parties or other everyday sources of disturbance such as parked cars and portable loudspeakers. Dirk Bülow, the district manager in Hemelingen, explained that five noise disturbances were detected this year, but they were not related to the parties.

Rules and penalties for noise pollution

Noise protection regulations in Germany are clearly regulated to protect residents. There are quiet times that prohibit noisy activities, especially in residential areas. According to the regulations, night quiet generally applies from 10 p.m. to 6 or 7 a.m., and even all day on Sundays and public holidays, as the information from NDR show. Anyone who fails to comply can be punished with fines of up to 5,000 euros.

The organizers are under observation, particularly with regard to outdoor events at the end of the summer. Even if parties have been announced in advance, they do not exempt you from the obligation to respect the night's rest. The Federal Immission Control Act stipulates that noises that exceed room volume (around 30 decibels) are prohibited in residential areas. Fights and loud celebrations are still considered misdemeanors even if they have been properly authorized. According to information from Specialist lawyer If the disturbance continues, those affected may also be entitled to call the police upon requesting the person causing the disturbance.

Environmental awareness and waste problems

Another point that cannot be ignored in the discussion about the parties is the waste problem. It is repeatedly reported that disposable grills and packaging are left behind at Lake Mahndorf after the celebrations. Although an organizer provided enough garbage bags again this year, raising awareness of environmental protection and the responsibility of those celebrating remains an important topic.

As autumn approaches, the nocturnal noise activity on Lake Mahndorf is likely to subside again, and the next cabbage tour season is already approaching. A good hand in planning and consideration for local residents are needed more than ever.
