Police prevent agitation: masked people want to storm the AfD information stand!

A serious incident occurred in Bremen on September 13, 2025, when the police were able to prevent an attack on an AfD information stand. Around 30 masked people ran towards the stand, but the emergency services intervened quickly and prevented a potentially dangerous encounter. The situation occurred between 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the Bremen-Walle district. While the police monitored the information stand, a registered counter-demonstration with up to 150 participants took place. Before the attack, unknown people wrote slogans such as “Nazis out” and “AfD stinks” with spray chalk on the sidewalk and hung posters with the inscription “No place for right-wing agitation, solidarity instead of fascism.” These were quickly removed by the security forces in order to maintain order, as the Bild newspaper also highlights in its report ( Picture ).

The use of the police

The attempted attack around 11:35 a.m. resulted in targeted physical intervention by the police, who used, among other things, multi-purpose batons. According to the emergency services, the masked people did not follow the loudspeaker announcements and instead joined the counter-demonstration. There they changed their clothes and took off their masks. The police documented the violations and filed a criminal complaint under the Assembly Act.

The incident shows how tense the atmosphere can be at political meetings. Politically motivated violence, as is also observed in other parts of Germany, is currently increasing during demonstrations. Research results show that the perception of violence among demonstrators and authorities often diverges. While police sometimes view resistance as aggressive, many demonstrators perceive their actions as peaceful, which can lead to misunderstandings and escalations ( bpb ).

Consequences and outlook

At the end of the day, the counter-demonstration was largely peaceful and dispersed when the information stand was dismantled. The police had the security situation under control and were able to prevent further confrontations. The incident is strongly condemned by the AfD Bremen, which fears a radicalization of the left-wing scene. Police investigations are ongoing to fully clarify the incident and take further action if necessary.
