Mario Basler: From soccer star to reality TV sensation!
Mario Basler, born on December 18, 1968 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, has established himself as one of the most colorful characters in German football. The former player, who became known by the nickname “Supermario”, can look back on an impressive career. Today he lives with his partner Doris Büld and was last seen on reality TV and as a TV expert. His personal and professional adventures illuminate a fascinating journey through life.
Basler signed his first professional contract with 1. FC Kaiserslautern, before moving to the 2nd Bundesliga. His move to Werder Bremen was a real stroke of luck, where he won one of the most important titles of his career with the DFB Cup. With his move to FC Bayern Munich in 1996, numerous successes followed, including winning the Champions League and the title at the 1996 European Championship with the German national team. After an exciting football life, Basler ended his sporting career in the United Arab Emirates.
Personal life and reality TV
Basler's private life was no less exciting: After his divorce from Iris Wittmann, with whom he was married from 1998 to 2009 and has a son, Maurice, the former professional footballer experienced a number of relationships. His look back at his time with Iris shows that they got back together in 2017, but broke up again in 2019. He found his way back to Doris Büld, his ex-girlfriend, with whom he moved into the reality format “The Summer House of the Stars” in 2022. This shows once again that Basler is also in demand on television.
He has made a name for himself not only as a former player, but also as a TV expert. Since 2007 he has appeared on Sat.1 as an expert for UEFA Cup broadcasts. He was also a columnist for the Bild newspaper and runs his own YouTube channel. His activity in reality TV formats such as “Stepping Out” and “Celebrity Big Brother” shows his versatility and popularity in the TV sector.
Current projects and assets
His financial standing is impressive: James Basler's assets are estimated at around 15 million euros. There are many options open to him in order to continue to do good business. After his active career, he opened the bar MB30 in Cala Ratjada on Mallorca in 2019 and planned a shisha bar of the same name in Eisenberg, which, however, was not realized. Today he also gives football lessons in various camps, sells merchandise and has advertising partnerships.
Since 2023 he has been working as an expert at Sport 1 again, where he analyzes the Saturday evening games in the 2nd Bundesliga. He also recently announced his own tour, “Basler brennt,” which will take place in seven German cities. His passion for football and the media world remains unbroken.
